While elected city officials and political wannabes are busy in election campaign, kidnappers struck anew and seized a businesswoman and her live-in-partner in Baliwasan Seaside at dawn yesterday.

Abducted were Nancy Gonato y Lucero, 38, owner and proprietor of Ocean World Marine Products and Ronnie San Dagon, 50.

A police report disclosed that Gonato and San Dagon were in their rented house at Taha private wharf around 12 midnight when five men arrived and pretended to be selling lobsters.

The five men showed two sample lobsters that made Gonato’s helper open the door of their house.

Police said when the five men were inside the house, they pulled out guns and dragged Gonato and San Dagon to the Baliwasan shore where they boarded a pumpboat that sped westward.

Police said the kidnappers left Gonato’s 15-year-son to her first husband inside their house.

City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo led his men in conducting hot pursuit operations for the possible recovery of the victims, but as of press time there was no positive development on the latest abduction in Zamboanga City.

Police investigators however found out that Gonato has some unpaid transactions to some people known to her

The abduction of Gonato and San Dagon came few days after Warren Rodwell, a retired Australian who was kidnapped in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, was freed in Pagadian City. – Dan Toribio Jr.
