Team PNoy mayoralty aspirant Cong. Beng Climaco-Salazar on Saturday cautioned the public anew against vote buying tactics in the forthcoming May 13 elections stressing it will do no good to the people and the City.

Climaco-Salazar emphasized this in her campaign speech during Team PNoy’s grand rally in barangay Lunzuran, where a mammoth crowd cheered and pledged for their support for all administration candidates in District 2.

Climaco also reminded the audience to take note of the present local administration’s performance in terms of good governance, unlike some candidates in other camps, who keep on hitting her team “yet, one mayoralty aspirant’s government funding only goes to ‘fondas’ and other unnecessary sponsorships, instead of using it for the benefit of the poor people in Zamboanga City”.

Climaco likewise cited the case of a friend running for a higher post in nearby Sibugay Province, who was predicted to be a sure winner in the 2010 elections, yet, lost to her rival on election day due to vote buying tactics employed by her friend’s rival.

“At least, we here in Team PNoy offer ourselves for public service with dedication, and not pushed by ambition, because service with dedication, comes directly from the heart,” Climaco said in Chabacano.

At the same time, the  mayoralty betstrongly appealed for District 2 voters to vote for Jomar Lobregat as congressman, as the latter would surely help push for Zamboanga’s progress, in partnership with his brother, outgoing mayor, now District 1 congressional frontrunner Celso Lobregat.

“These Lobregat brothers would be there in Congress, to safeguard the city, against its inclusion in the new Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), especially, at the time when Bangsamoro basic law starts to get crafted in the next congress,” the House Deputy Speaker for Mindanao pointed out.

Meanwhile, also present to express their full support for all Team PNoy candidates were several barangay chairmen and kagawads from Districts 1 and 2, including ZAMCELCO vice president Efren Perez, who did not hesitate to speak on stage, about his unequivocal support for all the party’s contenders.

For his part, Jomar introduced himself, not as a newcomer, claiming to have been in politics since the time of his late mother, former Mayor Ma Clara Lobregat, as well as how he intends to help the leadership of Climaco, should she become the next city mayor.

Mayor Lobregat, who spoke last during said rally, enumerated what he had done for Zamboanga City in his three consecutive terms, especially, in terms of infrastructure projects that amount to P5.4 billion.

The mayor also cited the good leadership of Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde, in whose watch as presiding officer, the city council was adjudged as the best City Council in the whole country.

Outgoing councilors Rudy Lim and Benjamin ‘Nonong’ Guingona, were likewise given privilege to speak on stage and appealed for support for Climaco, Iturralde, Jomar Lobregat, and District 2 council aspirants, Mike Alavar, Kit Barredo, BG Guingona, Art Onrubia, Elong Natividad, Eddie Saavedra, Percival Ramos, and VP Elago, respectively. — PA
