Mayor Celso Lobregat the other day scoffed at the apparent smear campaign launched against him by political rivals as last ditch effort to discredit his administration.

Lobregat, who is seeking the District 1 Congressional seat in the May 13, 2013 elections, urged people to remain vigilant against individuals “who are but a pack of hungry wolves dressed in lamb’s clothing”.

“These individuals are prone to putting on innocent facades all while hiding their hideous heart, skillfully weaving lies into truths, always ready to jump at any and every opportunity to sling mud while painting themselves virtuous,” the mayor said in his message during the Araw ng Kagitingan celebration apparently referring to political opponents who have launched a series of attacks against his administration.

But when asked to comment on the attacks aired in radios and published in newspapers, Lobregat said he has his hands full of important matters and has no time to reply to the different accusations and criticisms hurled by political opponents.

“Como ta abla si Ma’am Caling estaba, dejalo canila,” the mayor told reporters.

The mayor said he has to attend to his duties and responsibilities as chief executive of the City rather than to answer to accusations which are but a web of lies, deceit and delusion.

“As we continue to move forward as a city, I urge everyone – the young and the old alike – to remain vigilant against individuals who are but a pack of hungry wolves dressed in lamb’s clothing”, Lobregat added. — Rey Carbonel
