WMSU stude champion in national speech tilt PDF Print E-mail

Miss Aminah Fernando Kunting, an incoming senior BSED-English student of WMSU  won as champion in the recently concluded 21st National Oratorical Contest sponsored by the Veterans Federation of the Philippines-Sons and Daughters Association, Inc. (VFP-SDAI) last April 6,  2013, at the Veterans Center, Taguig, Manila.

The theme of the contest was: “Veterans of the World War II, Strength and Inspiration of the Youth to the Right Path”.

The competition was conceptualized to honor the heroism and valor of the Filipino Veterans during the World War II. First Runner Up was National Capital Region, while Second Runner Up was from Davao City.

Miss Kunting was awarded by the Secretary of Education, the Honorable  Armin Luistro, and his staff during the Araw ng Kagitingan  Commemorative Rites at Mt. Samat, Bataan , graced by President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino last April 9, 2013.

Miss Kunting, who aspires to be an educator, wished to continue her legacy in honoring the Filipino veterans who serve as exemplars and icon of courage and patriotism.

She was trained by coach Dr. Expedito “Titus” H. Malbago, a college instructor of WMSU.

Meanwhile, a high school student of Maria Clara L.  Lobregat National High School, Miss Francheska Fernandez was adjudged Fourth Place in the high school category. She was trained hy Miss Jessica M. Casiano, a Science Teacher of the said School. — Alvin G. Alfonso/VFP-SDAS
