Team PNoy mayoralty aspirant Cong. Beng Climaco-Salazar and District 1 congressional bet Mayor Celso Lobregat on Saturday called on the constituents to reject candidates who have conspired and enticed an out-of-town politician to run for mayor in Zamboanga –an obvious act of selling Zamboanga.

And even if the said mayoralty bet has been disqualified by the Commission on Elections because of his conviction in a rape case, this said candidate, has his supporters and alliances who are running under the so-called slogan of serving the people is not ambition but an obligation (obligacion hinde ambicion), according to Climaco-Salazar and Lobregat.

Lobregat in his speech during a well-attended rally in Barangay Ayala, Saturday night presented newspaper clippings that show Councilor Rommel Agan, who is seeking re-election was among the members of the opposition who enticed and invited former Zamboanga del Norte congressman Romeo Jalosjos to run for mayor in the city and “confided to Jalosjos that Zamboanga City has more than P2 billion in the banks”.

The said clipping even quoted Agan as saying “that money is just waiting for the prince charming to arrive and use it to turn around the economic growth of Zamboanga City”.

Through Lobregat’s sound fiscal management and good governance, the city government has constructed, ongoing construction and projects under bidding process a total of 3,833 infrastructure projects worth a total of P5.4 billion from 2007 to 2012—all undertaken without having to borrow a single centavo from any financial institution. And the money that is in the bank worth over P2 billion is all appropriated for projects.

Lobregat said these people who sell Zamboanga should be and must be rejected and discarded for even if Jalosjos is not in the picture, the latter has his allies, supporters and so-called “galamays” or tentacles in the candidates that are running for various positions  for the May 13, 2013 elections.

Climaco-Salazar stated that the city was beset with a political challenge when the opposition invited Zamboanga del Norte politicians to run in Zamboanga in the guise of bringing change in the city.

Climaco-Salazar also expressed surprise at the promised change and help to Zamboanga by the out of town politicians when in fact, these said politicians cannot even bring development and progress to Zamboanga del Norte.    “Abre kita di aton maga ojos, si sila quiere bene aqui na Zamboanga para ayuda, porke pa sila bene siendo el Zamboanga del NOrte is one of the poorest provinces in the country?”.

She said Dakkak Beach Resort, usually showcased by the said politician, is a private enterprise and not a public property.

“Si Beng maskin nuay tanto fondo para na maga fonda, tiene yo fondo para na seguridad, salud y educacion. I am leaving District I with additional P5M medical assistance, P5M for the DSWD and P5M for scholarships”, she stressed.

She urged the constituents to do everything they can to protect the integrity of women by not voting candidates why abuse women’s and children’s rights and who treat women as mere playthings. “Bota kita na maga candidate que tiene el qualificacion, dedicacion y grande amor y concierne con el Ciudad de Zamboanga”.

The Ayala rally Saturday was attended by a mammoth crowd that included barangay officials from both districts 1 and II to show their support to the Team PNoy. Joining in the rally were re-electionist vice mayor Cesar Iturralde, District II congressional bet Jomar Lobregat and District I council aspirants Myra Paz Abubakar, Violy Alejandro, Dats Sampang, Tito Espiritusanto, Noning Biel, Charlie Mariano, Bong Atilano and Gerky Valesco.

Last night, the Team PNoy had its rally in Barangay Bolong where a  huge crowd was again expected to attend to show support to the District II candidates to include council aspirants Mike Alavar, Kit Barredo, BG Guingona, VP Elago, Art Onrubia, Percival Ramos and Eddie Saavedra. — Rey Carbonel
