Fuerza Zamboanga mayoralty bet Erbie A. Fabian declared Zamboanga City will have a youth friendly environment, vowing to implement all laws pertaining to protecting the rights of the young people.

The 3rd term congressman from the city’s 2nd District, answering a question during  last Saturday’s candidates’ forum held at a downtown hotel, said,  “there is no need to enact new laws concerning youth welfare as there are already many in existence. All we need to do is see to it these are implemented fully and with much political will,” Fabian emphasized.

“The youth is the hope of the future, they are potential mayors, congress representatives, vice mayors and councilors if they are properly nurtured and taken cared of but on the other hand they could also be potential problems if they are not given proper attention by their parents, and us their local leaders,” Fabian said.

The youth sector is very much our concern and in our 10-point agenda. I have declared I will be mayor for all the people of Zamboanga, regardless of gender, creed, age or political affiliation and that includes the growing youth sector’, he said amidst hearty rounds of applause.

The council seat for the youth sector will have to be empowered more and encompass more programs for youth development and greater participation of the sector in major policy decisions.

Fabian declared that the youth must be consulted at all times as they now form a growing dynamic sector of our society here during a later forum with fraternity leaders in Lunzuran.

Also that youth concern is not the monopoly agenda of one party but the general concern of all he added.

Meanwhile, Fabian whose group’s nightly sorties and rallies continue to draw huge crowds in different barangays also declared that if it were up to him he will prohibit the practice of electing politicians to school boards in the city various colleges and universities.

‘Electing politicians to school board does nothing put politicize school decisions and major policy undertakings.

School boards will be much better off without know- it- all politicians,” Fabian added.
