“As good as solve.”

Thus declared City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin de Ocampo on the ambush incident that seriously wounded Atty. Homer Mabale and killed his two office staff in Tugbungan at dawn Saturday

De Ocampo said that because of the cooperation showed and given by Mabale who is now recuperating in the hospital, they can easily solve the crime “but we will still wait for Atty. Mabale to fully recover so we can get the official statement from him for the proper filing of case against the perpetrator.”

De Ocampo said that investigators have already established the true motive of the ambush as well as the identity of the perpetrator.

“It’s purely personal. Politics has nothing to do with it. But we cannot yet reveal the information we gathered from the victim because of the sensitivity of the case. Pero malayo talaga ang politika dito at wala ding koneksyon ang mga caso na hinahawakan nya,” De Ocampo disclosed.

With the latest development, police have dismissed speculations that linked the ambush to politics in Lamitan, Basilan.

As of now, Mabale preferred not to issue any statement, except to confirm that it has nothing to do with politics as alleged by some quarters who are trying to connect the incident to the many court cases that the lawyer is handling not only in the city but in other provinces. — Jimmy Villaflores
