A man who was enjoying temporary liberty after posting a bond relative to his attempted homicide case was stabbed and hacked to death by his brother-in-law in Barangay Cabatangan last Monday night.

The fatality was identified as Jefren Rojas y Bautista, 30, married. He was killed by Rodel Diaz y Bernardo, 24, married.

Rojas sustained 21 stab and hack wounds in the body and was rushed to the Ciudad Medical Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

A police report disclosed that Rojas was drinking at Abalos Store around 7:15 p.m. when Diaz, his younger brother Mark and companions named Julius Antonio and Raul Atilano arrived and entered the store. Rojas uttered unsavory words directed at Mark which irked Rodel. The latter pulled out a bolo, approached Rojas then attacked him.

Diaz and his companions escaped after the incident.
Investigation disclosed that Rojas was accused of attempted homicide by Rodel few months ago after the former tried to kill him.

Rojas was temporarily released after he posted a bail bond.
Meanwhile, two men were wounded in two separate shooting incidents in Talon-Talon and Maasin last Monday night and at dawn yesterday.

The victims were identified as Alvin Asad, 21, a nursing student of Logoy Grande, Talon-Talon and Jojo Orquijo of Maasin.

A sketchy police report disclosed that Asad was on his way home around 8  p.m., when a gunman surfaced and shot him once. He sustained a bullet wound in the back and was taken to a private hospital while the gunman escaped.

Orquijo was shot on the foot by an unidentified gunman at dawn yesterday. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Maasin Barangay Chairman Misael Bernardo appealed to the police to fast track the investigation of the shooting and to arrest the gunman. — Dan Toribio Jr.
