UNA District 1 congressional aspirant Cris “Monsi” Dela Cruz and his team drew anew another solid support from residents during a campaign rally in Barangay Recodo last Tuesday night.

Recodo residents pledged to support Monsi and his party mates after they heard the servant-leader speak on the group’s platform of government and the changes he seeks to bring if elected in the May 13 election.

“There’s no reason for us not to vote Monsi and his teammates if all they will do is to work and bring progress in the city. We have seen our present administration did nothing and there are many poor people getting poorer who could not even eat three times a day,” a government employee who was present during the rally said.

Several of the audiences lauded Dela Cruz for giving a place for free water and light at the Lantaka Hotel for the poor Muslims to sell their marine products including pearls.

In his speech,  Dela Cruz said those poor Muslims had earlier been selling pearls at the vicinity of the Paseo del Mar but the management of the park shooed them away and were prohibited to do their small business in the said place.    Dela Cruz said he coordinated with the barangay council of Zone IV and offered a place at  the Lantaka Hotel where the small traders were allowed to sell their marine products.

Recodo residents cheered after Dela Cruz announced that he had bought a small lot in Pasobolong and gave some to the poor as well as a 500-square-meter lot for the barangay hall compared to his political rival who has hundreds hectares of properties but has not donated any to indigent residents.

“Desde antes pa sabe kame si Monsi ta ayuda gayot na pobre poreso con ele gayot kame vota para el siguiente congresista aqui na distrito uno,” another resident said. — Dan Toribio Jr.
