Team PNoy District II congressional bet Jomar Lobregat yesterday debunked claims by the opposition that he is not a registered voter in the district that he intends to serve.

“I am a registered voter of District 2, I have been assigned a precinct number by COMELEC, and I have been a resident of Zone 4, barangay Pasobolong since March of last year (2012), and everything is already complete,” declared Lobregat in reaction to allegations that he is still a registered voter in District I.

Lobregat’s retort came after a local United Nationalists Alliance (UNA) District II council aspirant, in an interview over Wild FM’s ‘Buenas Dias Zamboanga’ program yesterday stated that based on inquiry, Lobregat’s application for transfer of registration has not been acted upon by the local Commission on Elections (COMELEC) office, thus, he is still a registered voter in district 1 and not in district 2.

The UNA council aspirant, Kim Elago cited Lobregat’s failure to fill up the space in the COMELEC registration application form that asks about the applicant’s length of stay in the barangay where he seeks to transfer.

The said council aspirant believed that technically, COMELEC could not act on Lobregat’s application to transfer voter’s registration to district 2, since Lobregat did not fill up the said space.

However, the Team PNOy District II congressional bet cited a news item bannered in Zamboanga Today newspaper, dated March 16, 2012, stating that he is transferring his voter’s registration from district 1 to district 2, because he has started constructing a house in barangay Pasobolong.

Lobregat said he has done his part by complying the requirements to transfer registration to District II and that he is unfazed by the opposition’s allegations.

“Ya anda yayo na COMELEC para man apply for transfer of registration, pero posible, el COMELEC no hay pa pwede quita di mi nombre na lista del maga registered voters na district 1, and that is for them to act on,” Lobregat explained.

At the same time, Lobregat thanked Elago and the others for giving importance to his person, which is a clear indication that he is now in the limelight, who might be subject of constant media interviews.

“Antes, when the campaign started, they were saying that I have no chance of winning, but now, everybody is there, very interested in my candidacy, so quiere lang yo dale gracias canila cay ta dale sila importancia comigo, and I hope that their attention continues, so it will give me more opportunities to come out in media and speak for myself,” Lobregat twitted.

Lobregat suspects that his political opponents are making his voter’s registration application an issue for lack of issues to use against him or the Team PNoy party.

“Si tiene sila question aserca el di mi rehistrasyon, they should have done it a long time ago, pero cay ahora lang sila ta pone atencion, bueno tamen cay ahora tiempo de campanya, pwede quita contesta con este clase de isyu”, the younger Lobregat added. — PA
