Though he does not have the support of all barangay chairmen, Lamitan City mayoralty bet Hegem Fuirgay is optimistic that he can beat his two opponents and emerge victorious in the May 13 election largely because of the overwhelming support by the residents themselves.

“I am surprised on the attendance of audience every time we hold rallies or “pulong-pulong” in the different barangays here. I know that Lamitenos really wanted to have real change,” the young Hegem Furigay told newsmen as he stressed that his group is not in any way paying people only to listen their speeches during rallies.

Hegem, who leads the “Team Colorao” with nine council aspirants, have visited almost all 45 barangays in Lamitan with very inspiring support from barangay leaders like the kagawads , prominent families and the youths.

“I’m not worried if my close contender (referring to his aunt Rose Furigay) has the support of the majority of the barangay chairmen. What is important is we can reach out directly to the constituents who are eager to see positive changes after the election,” the number one councilor said.

Asked about the alleged mudslinging and black propaganda on their rallies, Furigay clarified that his group, which is composed of mostly professionals, only talk about pressing issues that the city is facing that need to be addressed.

Hegem said his group has prepared a 10-point of Agenda which he believes is achievable and attune to the present time.

One of Hegem’s priorities is to further improve the peace and order condition by coordinating closely with PNP and the ARMM military units and other national government agencies.

“If this is achieved, investors will come to Lamitan including those in the real estate development. We will also provide additional allowances to all PNP and Bureau of Fire and Protection personnel and also provide logistical support to the PNP like patrol vehicles,” Furigay said.
