UNA District 1 congressional aspirant Cris “Monsi” Dela Cruz, during a grand rally in Ayala Sunday, showed a copy of the late Henry De Leon’s ante mortem sworn statement retracting his accusations against the later mayor Vitaliano Agan.

The 3,000 crowd cheered as Dela Cruz explained the De Leon sworn statement.

Dela Cruz told the crowd that De Leon in his sworn statement asked Agan to forgive him for all the false accusations he filed against him when he (Agan’s) was running for congressman against Celso Lobregat.

Dela Cruz said the documents were evidences that it was Lobregat who allegedly manipulated De Leon into fabricating the cases against the late Agan.

The servant-leader said the people should “open their eyes and ears and it is time to make welcome changes in the city by choosing the best leaders.”

The crowd apparently agree with Dela Cruz and his party mates as they applaud while the UNA candidates were delivering their speeches.

Residents who were present during the rally manifested their support to Dela Cruz and his party mates after the latter explained their platforms of government.

Meanwhile, labor leader Jose Suan endorsed the candidacy of Dela Cruz and the entire UNA team.

Suan said it is only UNA led by Dela Cruz can help the labor sector in the city.

Suan expressed disgust on the present administration’s inaction in assisting the thousands of canning factory workers during the three-month close fishing season that forces canning factories to stop producing sardines.

The labor leader said that during the three-month period, canning factory workers temporarily became jobless and when they returned to work last March, the city was already experiencing blackouts which also affect the canning industry.

Suan said the people especially the laborers should support Dela Cruz and his team who can bring changes to Zamboanga City. – Dan Toribio Jr.
