Local Team PNoy District II council aspirant Francisco Barredo the other day confirmed that his poster team was barred from posting campaign materials in barangay Taluksangay last week.

Barredo affirmed that he sent one of his 3 poster teams that consisted of Yakan-speaking members to Taluksangay last Wednesday to post campaign materials but was told to leave to prevent trouble. The instruction, according to Barredo, was for the team to proceed to the Taluksangay barangay hall to ask permission before accomplishing the task.

“Asegun con mi jente, ya privini canila el number 1 kagawad, que no mas yalang estampa mi maga poster, para no hay gulo, so ya sale ya lang el mi poster team na lugar”, the council aspirant recounted.

Barredo said his men informed him about the situation by phone and so he instructed his men to leave the area and the matter was reported to the local Team PNoy headquarters.

The following day, Team PNoy coordinator Councilor Rudy Lim personally contacted Councilor Abdurahman Nuño, Taluksangay barangay chairman and Liga ng mga Barangay president, to seek permission for the conduct of a pulung-pulong (small assembly) with the constituents in the area. However, the request was denied.

“Ya abla si Kaka (Nuño) comigo, no deal,” Lim stated referring to Councilor Nuño, whose wife, Councilor Lilia Nuño is a congressional aspirant for District II of the Fuerza Zamboanga team.

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) per Resoluton 9615 identifies common poster areas in selected public places such as plazas, markets, barangay centers and the like where posters may be readily seen or read, with the heaviest pedestrian and or vehicular traffic in the city or municipality. The same resolution allows parties and candidates to put up common poster areas in every  barangay. — PA
