Barangay health workers and nutrition scholars over the weekend showed unity and solidarity with local Team PNoy in appreciation of the present administration’s efforts to help their sector.

In a gathering Saturday, the health volunteers thanked Team PNoy’s mayoralty aspirant Cong. Beng Climaco-Salazar and District I congressional aspirant Mayor Celso Lobregat for continuously implementing health initiatives that do not only impact the lives of the people at large but also their own.

The group said with the Team PNoy, which espouses unity and continuity, people are guaranteed of unhampered implementation of health projects, programs and services to the people.

Cong. Climaco-Salazar’s teammate is Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde and District II congressional bet is Jomar Lobregat.  The council aspirants are Myra Paz Abubakar, Violy Alejandro, Dats Sampang, Tito Espiritusanto, Noning Biel, Charlie Mariano, Bong Atilano and Gerky Valesco for District I and Mike Alavar, Kit Barredo, BG Guingona, VP Elago, Elong Natividad, Art Onrubia, Percival Ramos and Eddie Saavedra.

Because of sound fiscal management, the health volunteers receive allowances from the City Government and are mostly beneficiaries of the City-sponsored or District 1 congressional office-sponsored PHILHEALTH program.

In terms of health projects and programs, the City Government has intensified its public health care programs by constructing barangay health clinics/wellness centers and even lying-in clinics and hospitals and accelerated health services.

Dr. Rodelin Agbulos, City Health Officer, said never in the history of Zamboanga has there been an infusion of so much public funds for the construction of wellness centers and other health facilities in the barangays than the present Lobregat administration.

“These efforts on the part of the mayor and the city government as a whole are geared towards quality health care for all which translates the city’s vision of ‘Nuestro Deseo un Ciudad sin Enfermedad’ or the desire of having a disease-free city,” said Dr. Agbulos, whose office is dubbed as the gatekeeper of health.

For her part, Cong. Climaco-Salazar has allocated P35M for health services that benefited not only District I but District II constituents, TESDA livelihood trainings aside from the over P2B worth of infrastructure projects during her first two term in Congress alone. As she leaves Congress, the lady solon has appropriated additional P5M for social services, P5M for medical assistance and P5M for scholarships.

The bandwagon for the Beng-Celso-Jomar-Itu partnership and the Team PNoy council candidates continues to swell.

Members of the senior citizens federation in Zamboanga also rally behind the cause of the local Team PNoy for unity and continuity, as they thanked the present administration for never reneging on its duty to look after the welfare of the constituents particularly their sector.

In a gathering last Friday, the Senior Citizens Federation led by Corazon Herico expressed profound gratitude to the administration of Mayor Celso Lobregat and Cong. Beng Climaco for initiating projects and programs that are greatly benefiting the senior citizens in the barangays. — Rey Carbonel
