A couple was shot dead yesterday afternoon making them the latest victims of gunslaying in Zamboanga City.

Killed were Francisco Natividad, 54,  and wife Myrna, 50, of Masses Drive, Talon-Talon.

A sketchy police report disclosed that Francisco and Myrna were standing along Salazar Drive, Logoy Grande, Talon-Talon at past 2 p.m.when two men aboard a motorcycle arrived and opened fire on them.

The couple suffered gunshot wounds in the chest and were dead on arrival at the Zamboanga City Medical Center.

Police investigators suspect the two gunmen as holduppers who had the intention to rob the couple.

Residents in the neighborhood said Francisco and Myrna were often seen standing along the road reportedly lending “5-6” money and collecting dues from clients.

Yesterday’s shooting will add to the number of killing incidents written on a giant billboard that is posted on the building of the Universidad de Zamboanga, whose president himself, Archie Eustaquio, was shot dead more than a year ago. The billboard’s latest count is 240 incidents.

Last Sunday, two other fatal shooting incidents took place in San Roque and Vitali.

Killed in San Roque was Rahman Ramdi, an office staff of Councilor and congressional bet in District 2 Lilia Nuño.

Slain in Vitali was Samuel Ramones, a businessman. — Dan Toribio Jr.
