More and more sectors and groups join the bandwagon of support to the bid of mayoralty aspirant Cong. Beng Climaco, re-electionist Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde, District I congressional aspirant Mayor Celso Lobregat, District II congressional bet Jomar Lobregat and all the council aspirants in both districts under the local Team PNoy.

This, as more than 80 urban poor groups last weekend unanimously endorsed the Team PNoy Zamboanga slate—the party, they believe, can guarantee continuity in public service given the remarkable track record and the tried and tested leadership that the party candidates have shown the past years.

Mayoralty aspirant Climaco-Salazar said expression of support from the group is the true manifestation of the partnership between the organizations and the local government unit.

“The endorsement of the urban poor organizations is a meaningful show of support. This gives the entire group the inspiration to even work harder for our people,” Climaco-Salazar said.

The endorsement was made during an assembly of the Federation of Zamboanga Urban poor groups held last weekend and attended by over a thousand members. Among the groups present were the Zamboanga Homeowners and People’s Organization (community associations from Districts I and II), Zamboanga City Women’s Urban Poor Organization, Zamboanga City Urban Poor Youth Organization, and the Comunidad del Los Lideres de Coop among others.

Federation Board Member Marisa Aizon said the urban poor groups in the city put their trust and confidence on the tried and tested leadership of Cong. Climaco-Salazar, Mayor Celso Lobregat and the other members of the Team PNoy because of their continuous efforts to help ameliorate the plight of the marginalized sector.

The Team PNoy also has a true representation of the urban poor sector in the person of Violeta “Violy” Alejandro, who is running for a council seat in District I, she said.

All throughout their terms, Cong. Climaco and Mayor Celso Lobregat with the support of the City Council have embarked on programs and projects for the benefit of the urban poor sector in the city.

“They have been there implementing projects for the urban poor all throughout their term in office, not only during campaign period”, one urban poor member said. “El otro ta promete pa lang, el Team PNoy ta hace ya. El otro partido ara lang ta acorda canamon kay eleccion ya, el Team PNoy estaba pa ta hace ya el todo el esfuerzo para alibia el bida del urban poor”.

The other members of the Team PNoy are council aspirants Myra Paz Abubakar, Violy Alejandro, Dats Sampang, Tito Espiritusanto, Noning Biel, Charlie Mariano, Bong Atilano and Gerky Valesco for District I and Mike Alavar, Kit Barredo, BG Guingona, VP Elago, Elong Natividad, Art Onrubia, Percival Ramos and Eddie Saavedra for District II.

The endorsement from the urban poor groups came after the senior citizens, barangay health workers and nutrition scholars and other volunteers also expressed unity with Climaco-Salazar’s Team PNoy.

The barangay sector is also all out in their support to the Team PNoy during campaign sorties held in different barangays in both districts I and II saying that the Climaco’s and Lobregat’s tried and tested leadership and unmatched accomplishments distinguish the administration party from its rivals in the May 13 elections. — Rey Carbonel
