Former Lamitan City Mayor Wilfrido Furigay Sr. yesterday openly endorsed Rosita Furigay and Roderick “Oric” Furigay as their official candidates for mayor and vice mayor respectively in the May 13, 2013 elections.

The old Furigay clarified that he did not make any endorsement in the past and that the official one was only made yesterday when the Furigay couple (Oric and Rosita) visited his rented house in Zamboanga City.

A photo with its caption that reads “Former Lamitan City Mayor Wilfrido Furigay Sr. endorses his grandson mayoralty bet Hegem Furigay and son Wilfrido Furigay Jr who is running for council seat” was published yesterday in local dailies.

“There was no endorsement that happened. Of course, it is normal for me to give full support to my son (Wilfrido Furigay Jr.) who is running for councilor as an independent candidate. Aside from that, no endorsement was done particularly for Hegem,” the former mayor said as he clarified that the manifesto of support they signed for Rosita and Oric Furigay still in existence.

On May 12, 2012, the biggest clan in Lamitan, the Cuevas-Pamaran-Antonio-Flores or CPAF) has expressed its noble commitment to support the candidacy Rosita Furigay for city mayor and Roderick Furigay for vice mayor in the coming election.

The manifesto of support in which the signatories are the clan officers themselves including former mayor Furigay further reads: “The CPAF speaking through its honorable officers and distinguish members of the Executive Board with all sincerity and loyalty, humbly and respectfully submit this manifesto as a declaration of the CPAF Association laudable and noble commitment without mental reservation or purpose of evasion, likewise express and pledge to vehemently and wholeheartedly support the candidacy in tandem of Madam Rosita Uy-Furigay for City Mayor and Roderick Furigay for city vice mayor of Lamitan City.” — HLV
