Former Senate President and founding chairman of PDP-Laban Aquilino ‘Nene’ Pimentel Jr. declared Fuerza Zamboanga mayoralty bet Erbie A. Fabian has excellent qualifications for the position he is aspiring for this May 13, 2013 polls, the post of Mayor of Zamboanga City.

Pimentel made the declaration during an interview with newsmen during last Friday’s ( May 3, 2013) courtesy call on the Congressional office of Fabian in Guiwan.

“I understand the good congressman has served the city in various capacities before as a councilor, vice mayor, mayor and now he is finishing a third term in congress so that makes him well rounded and Zamboanga City will be best served by his vast experience in government,” the elder statesman said.

“I have known Erbie for some time now and I know how he has worked hard and my feedback from people in this city is that he is well liked by his constituents,”  the now retired senator said.

“Voting for Erbie will be a good choice,” Pimentel said,  but disclosed he is leaving it up to the people to decide for themselves come election day on who to support.

“I wish Cong. Erbie all the luck this May 13, 2013, the grizzled Mindanao political giant added.

Pimentel though openly appealed to the city’s voters to support his son’s senatorial bid this May.

“Koko Pimentel has a solid agenda for Mindanao, the region where he and I hail from,” Pimentel said.

“If there is someone who understands the situation in Mindanao, then it must be Koko, not because he is my son but for the work he has so far put in will establish indeed he is for the peace, progress and development of Mindanao,”  he added.

The political legend from Misamis Oriental said just like Erbie here, Koko has made the power crisis in Mindanao one of his top concerns as well as the resolution of the Bangsa Moro issue which could finally bring peace to our troubled land.

Moreover Pimentel said PDP-Laban will be here to stay downplaying the supposed rift in the party saying the party supports a clean, honest credible and peaceful election this May. — Media Bureau
