Karanchos to ride all over Mindanao to back Chiz, Poe PDF Print E-mail

Karancho Inc., a group of civic-minded motorcycle riders of Western Mindanao yesterday staged an Oplan Motor Parade simultaneously in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and most parts of Mindanao in support of Sen. Chiz Escudero’s and former Movie and Television Review and Classification Board chairman Grace Poe’s senatorial bids in the May 13 elections.

Karancho stands for Kababayan Riders Association for a New Cultural Harmony and Order Inc. and the group is composed of motorcycle enthusiasts who make civic action their priority and is constituted by individuals connected with the Church, media, Congress, local government units, non-government organizations and schools.

Members of the group are trained to help resolve irresponsible perception and negative public opinion and they serve as bridge between communities, the Philippine National Police and the local government units in their localities.

The Motor Parade will be held simultaneously in 17 Karancho chapters of from Regions 8 to 13.

Karancho said the parade will show the group’s ultimate political support for Escudero’s and Poe’s senatorial bid.

“Escudero and Poe are fellow Karanchos. The motor parade is also a show of political support for Migz Zubiri and Cynthia Villar. Zubiri is a Karancho, according to Karancho secretary general Josue de Villa Go.

The parade started simultaneously at 8 am from all the 17 chapters of the group in Region 8: Sogod, Southern Leyte; Region 9: Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur; Zamboanga City; Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte;  Region 10: Cagayan de Oro City, Valencia-Malaybalay;  Region 11: Tagum City, Digos City; Region 12: Gen. Santos City; Cotabato City, Kidapawan City; Region 13: Bislig City; Surigao City; Butuan City; Bayugan City; ARMM: Marawi City and Davao City.

The parade will start from designated centers and will cover routes going through public markets, bus terminals, malls, and main highways or thoroughfares

Karanchos, or the groups members, from nearby towns of each city as far as 15 to 25 km radius will converge at the centers accompanied by rekorida, and drum and bugle bands.

Participants of the Motor Parade will carry flaglets, flags bearing the names and photos of Escudero and Poe, maskaras, and warmers used by riders, and t-shirts which are expected to create a festive atmosphere throughout the parade route.

Regional chairman and provincial chairman of Karancho chapters in each area will then be available for interviews with media at the end of the Parade routes.
