A 27-year-old man was shot and wounded by a suspected motorcycle thief along Tomas Claudio St. last Wednesday night.

John Kent Lapidario y Brasa, married, of Lustre, Sta. Catalina, sustained a bullet wound in the back and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Initial investigation disclosed that Lapidario was sitting on his Honda Wave motorcycle, waiting for a friend when a gunman appeared and shot him from behind around 8:30 p.m.

Police said when Lapidario slumped on the ground, the gunman tried to drive his motorcycle but failed to switch on the engine. He instead escaped by running on foot towards Plaza Pershing.

Helpful passersby rushed Lapidario to the hospital.

Investigators led by Sr. Insp. Arlan Delumpines were still working on the case. — Dan Toribio Jr.
