Philippine Army chief Lt. Gen. Noel Coballes on Thursday paid a courtesy call visit to Lt. Gen Ardo, commander, Western Mindanao Command, at Headquarters Western Mindanao Command, Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City.

Gen. Coballes is in Western Mindanao to meet with Army commanders and to assess the overall readiness of all Army units particularly in the forthcoming elections in this part of the country. He is accompanied by some of his staff during this week-long visit of Army units.

His visit to Westmincom is like a homecoming. Lt.Gen. Coballes was himself a former Westmincom chief who subsequently became the Vice Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines prior to his elevation to the top Army post on January 22, 2013.

Gen. Ardo accorded the Army Chief with military honors upon his arrival, which is traditionally accorded to a ranking officer or dignitary.
