A policeman engaged in a shootout with two gunmen who tried to kill him along San Jose Road last Thursday night.

PO2 Nazhier Alfaro y Ijirani, 34, married, of Sta. Catalina and assigned with the 3rd Mobile Company of Regional Public Safety Battalion, was at a vulcanizing shop at the junction of Ledesma and Varela Sts. around 7: 45 p.m. when two men aboard a motorcycle appeared and shot him.

Alfaro reportedly managed to seek cover at an interior area while he was being fired at. He returned fire prompting the gunmen to flee.

Alfaro miraculously survived while his motorcycle incurred bullet holes.

Investigators recovered seven spent shells of 9mm pistol and one empty shell of .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

Meanwhile, Totoh Abdullah y Nawadi, 22, married, of Baluno was shot and wounded by his uncle Kidal Barahama in Cawit last Thursday morning.

Police said that Abdullah went to a relative in Cawit around 11 a.m. to attend a family gathering.

However when Abdullah and Barahama met, the latter suddenly drew a .45 caliber pistol and shot him in the body.

Barahama hurriedly left the place after shooting Abdullah.

Police said that a month ago, Abdullah and Barahama engaged in an altercation after the latter accused the former of having an illicit affair with his wife.
