Agents of the Philippine DruEnforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested three local drug syndicate members, including a former town councilor, in a buy-bust operation in Zamboanga City, a top PDEA official announced yesterday.

PDEA Regional Director Adzhar Albani said the buy-bust operation was carried out at around 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Barangay Tetuan after the suspects agreed to a deal with a PDEA agent, who acted as poseur-buyer.

Albani identified those arrested as Zam-Zam Tulawie, 23, Inderapatra Adam, 32, and Lamimer Tulawie, 36, a former councilor of Talipao town in the province of Sulu.
The suspects are members of the Sakidal-Amiril group, a local drug syndicate operating in the region, according to Albani.

He said the suspects were arrested after they handed over a plastic sachet containing 50 grams of shabu to the PDEA undercover agent, in exchange for P200,000.

He said the agents also confiscated from the suspects a Nissan Ultra Eagle Pick-up vehicle, a cellular phone aside from the P500 marked money and a sachet of 50 grams shabu.
He disclosed that the marked money was placed on top of the bundle of neatly cut papers and equal in size with the P500 bill the agents used in the buy-bust operation.

A charge for violation of Section 5 in relation to Section 26, Article II of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against the suspects, Albani said.

The suspects are detained at the headquarters of the PDEA in this city, Albani said. — TPG
