Mayor Celso Lobregat yesterday thanked Team PNoy’s hordes of supporters both in Districts I and II, who he said gave the overwhelming mandate to mostly candidates from the administration party during Monday’s polls.

Lobregat will be back in Congress representing District I when his third term as mayor ends on June 30. He was proclaimed winner Tuesday night in the city’s District I congressional race with a total of 42,826 votes garnered.

“Quiere gayot yo dale gracias con todo quien ya suporta conel grupo Team PNoy not only in District I but also District II”, the mayor said as he also expressed gratitude to all volunteers and those who responded to the call to help make the May 13 elections an honest, orderly and peaceful exercise such as the teachers, who acted as poll clerks, the police, military as well as the Commission on Elections independent/ volunteer groups. “Con todo con ustedes, gracias gayot na na de ustedes esfuerzo en aquel eleccion del Lunes”.

Lobregat likewise thanked the Zamboanga media for extensively covering the elections and helping ensure that the polls were conducted without hassles.

Aside from the mayor, vice mayor and District I congressional representative, the Team PNoy also captured 10 of the 16 seats in the City Council.

Before he assumes his responsibilities as representative in the House of Congress on July 1, Lobregat said he will continue implementing the city’s projects and programs.

He stressed that numerous infrastructure projects which have already been completed, will be unveiled and turned over to the concerned beneficiaries. “We will continue to implement the projects and programs while we are still mayor until June 30. We have plenty of projects to inaugurate such as school buildings, roads and government buildings among others.”

Meanwhile, Lobregat congratulated mayor elect Beng Climaco for her landslide victory, which he said, is a “very, very clear mandate from the people of Zamboanga”.

He said the results of Climaco’s election as mayor validate Team PNoy’s consultations with the people prior to the start of the campaign period.

“Nuay duda, as we said during the campaign, bien klaro ya gayot kay si Beng will get a very wide margin (in her votes compared to her rivals) and it (the elections) proved correct. That was also the reason why we met Erbie (Fabian) prior to the start of the campaign period where we said cay cosa quiere el maga jente amo kay si Beng el debe corre para mayor”. — Sheila Covarrubias
