For the second time, City Health Officer Rodelin Agbulos yesterday was awarded most outstanding physician by the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) as public acknowledgement of his participation in numerous activities par excellence rendered to the Zamboanga City Medical Society.

The awarding ceremony coincided with the PMA’s 10th Annual Convention and Scientific Meetings held at the Manila Hotel, May 17.

In 2009, Dr. Agbulos also was conferred by the PMA as most outstanding physician for his great contributions to the medical society in the city.

As the City Health Officer, Agbulos has initiated health projects and programs in conjunction with the City’s vision “Un Ciudad Sin Enfermedad” or a disease free city. Most of his health initiatives, such as the anti-HIV-AIDS and anti-TB programs have been cited as best practices and used as benchmarks by other local government units, national and international institutions.

Aside from the focused programs and the regular health programs implemented by the CHO, Agbulos also led the conduct of numerous medical outreach activities in the mainland as well as island barangays in the city benefitting thousands of residents.

The PMA is the premier medical association of the Philippines, covering medical practitioners and component medical groups from the entire country.

The PMA’s Search for Most Outstanding Physician was conducted by a committee headed by Dr. Jose Asa Sabili.

PMA President Dr. Modesto Llamar and Secretary-General Dr. Marianne Dobles presented the plaque to Dr. Agbulos during the awarding ceremonies in Manila yesterday afternoon.
