A transition team will facilitate the smooth transition of local governance to the incoming administration of Mayor-elect Beng Climaco-Salazar upon her assumption to office this coming June 30.
By virtue of Executive Order 501, the City Government Transition Team was created to oversee the transition process in order to facilitate the “effective turnover of responsibilities to the incoming/elected local officials”.
To be helmed by outgoing Mayor Celso Lobregat, the transition team will be responsible for the conduct of an inventory of local government, including real and movable properties, the organization of all pertinent documents and records, and the turnover of accountabilities.
It will also be responsible for the organization of the turnover ceremonies and the briefing for the incoming set of officials.
Aside from Lobregat, the team will be composed of Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) City Director Mohammad Taha S. Arakama, Commission on Audit (COA) State Auditor IV Fe Lasay, all City Department Heads and a representative from a non-government organization (NGO).
Mayor Lobregat issued the Executive Order last April 23, 2013.
Climaco won a landslide victory for the mayoralty post during the mid-term elections held on May 13. Meanwhile, Lobregat will finish his third term as City Mayor and will assume a new set of responsibilities as the elected representative of the 1st District of Zamboanga City, a position he occupied from 1998-2004 prior to his election as mayor in 9 years ago. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
