District 1 councilor-elect Josephine “Pin-Pin” Pareja is positive and confident on Mayor-elect Isabelle Climaco-Salazar to lead Zamboanga City.

Pareja made this assesment during her victory party held at a restaurant in Tumaga last Saturday.

Pareja said she is confident that Climaco-Salazar can serve the people of Zamboanga well and bring progress during her reign as mayor..

She said she is ready to support all the programs of Climaco-Salazar as long it will benefit the general public.

Pareja believes that Climaco-Salazar can make her own decision and that she is different from the past mayor in that she is magnanimous and open minded.

Meanwhile, Pareja also revealed that she will exert efforts to serve the people of Zamboanga under her capacity as a city councilor.

She said she is not expecting any chairmanship from the different committees in the council considering she is an independent and does belong to the majority bloc. But if offered, she said, she  will accept it.

“I can work as a local legislator with or without any chairmanship in any of the committees but I will accept if I will be given one,” Pareja stressed.

She said she will continue her opposition against the putting-up of the coal fired power plant in their place despite everything has been approved.

Pareja said she will look for a remedy to recall or go over again the resolution approving the establishment of the said plant as she believes that it is not the immediate solution to the present power crisis in Mindanao that is seriously affecting Zamboanga City.

Pareja added that once seated in the council, she will start immediately wotk on her campaign promise that is an additional burial assistance and medical assistance for the poor.

Pareja thanked the people in the city’s first district for giving her chance in her second try for a council seat. – Dan Toribio Jr.
