Mayor Celso Lobregat and Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde motored to Tigbalabag in the east coast yesterday morning to turnover a newly-constructed barangay hall, another testimony of the City’s thrust to improve delivery of services and help spur development and progress in the outlying barangays.

The P2.8M barangay hall is only one of the millions worth of projects that the City Government under the Lobregat administration implemented in Tigbalabag from 2007 to 2012.

The turnover came over a week after the May 13 elections when barangay Tigbalabag repeated the 11-0 sweep in favor of the local administration’s Team PNoy party as a show of gratitude and appreciation to the tremendous projects infused into the village for the benefit of the residents. The same 11-0 sweep in favour of the Lobregat-led Laban ng Demokratikong Party was also achieved by Tigbalabag in the 2010 elections.

“Este 11-0 que ya dale el barangay Tigbalabag ta dale mira kay ta aprecia gayot mucho el maga residente con el maga programa y proyecto del gobierno local”, Rodolfo Ofendoreyes, Tigbalabag chairman said, as he likewise thanked his constituents for supporting his call for 11-0 prior to the May 13 elections.

Ofendoreyes vowed to put to good use the barangay hall and the other facilities that the local government has constructed for the benefit of the residents of the area.

Mayor Lobregat said the infrastructures put in place in Tigbalabag and all the other 97 barangays of the City are testimonies of the administration’s steadfast commitment to development and progress and ultimately help alleviate the plight of the residents.

“Muchas gracias tambien kay ya hace ustedes 11-0 apabor conel Team PNoy or dos eleccion ya aqui na Tigbalabag”, Mayor Lobregat, who was also accompanied by Councilors Mike Alavar, Percival Ramos, Nonong Guingona and councilor-elect BG Guingona, declared in his message.

Also present during the unveiling yesterday were City Engineer Luis Despalo, Tigbalabag barangay councilmen and barangay chairmen from Vitali, Tagasilay, Tictapul, Mangusu and Limpapa among others.

Last May 2, Lobregat also turned over the Lubigan barangay hall and on May 8, the barangay hall of Talabaan.

From 2007 to 2012, a total of 33 barangay halls with a total cost of P116.46 million have been constructed while 17 others were rehabilitated/ reconstructed and improved with a total cost of P18.05 million.

In 2004, the barangay halls of Lunzuran and Sta. Catalina were constructed with a total cost of P6 million. In 2012 constructed were barangay halls in Labuan, Tumaga, Dulian-Upper Bunguiao, San Roque, Baluno, Cabatangan, Sinubong, Putik, Buenavista, Tictabon and rehabilitated facilities in Mercedes and Cacao.

Inaugurated during the first months of the year were the Pasobolong, Lumayang and Guisao barangay halls. — Sheila Covarrubias
