Lending firm collector shot dead, pal hurt PDF Print E-mail

A collector of a lending company was shot dead, while his companion was wounded by suspected holduppers in Barangay Ayala in the west coast before 12 noon yesterday.

Killed was Bemilo Islanan, a collector of Nickel Lending Company. He was dead on arrival at the Western Mindanao Medical Center with a bullet wound in the head . Wounded was Jeffrey Guevarra, 25, of Sta.Catalina. He sustained gunshot wounds in the shoulder and body and was in critical condition.

A police report disclosed that Islanan and Guevarra were collecting  loan dues from a store at Country Home, Ayala when two men aboard a motorcycle arrived and approached them from behind. Using a .45 caliber pistol, one of the two men opened on Islanan and Guevarra.

After shooting the two victims, the gunmen grabbed Islanan’s bag containing undetermined amount of money collected from the lending firm’s clients and fled aboard a black motorcycle.

Investigators are looking into holdup and other lending activities as the motive behind the shooting.
