A 24-year-old office secretary was stabbed and seriously wounded few minuted after she was held hostage by her jealous live-in-partner (common-law wife) in Canelar yesterday.

Police identified the victim as Jomarife Magdula, 24, secretary of the Personal Collection (PC). She sustained multiple stab wounds in the body and was rushed to the hospital.

The suspect, Alfredo Nicodemus, a former policeman from Luzon, was later arrested.

Investigation showed that Magdula was at the PC office when Nicodemus arrived and confronted her.

Nicodemus pulled out a knife and dragged Magdula to the corridor of the building where PC is housed.

Then Nicodemus took Magdula back to the office where he stabbed  her in the stomach.

During the incident, terrified office staff ran out of the building.

SPO2 Alex Delos Reyes, a police investigator and other policemen who were passing the area, immediately responded to the hostage drama and arrested Nicodemus.

Nicodemus was placed under questioning while a case was being prepared against him by the City Police Office’s Women and Children Section.

Investigators were looking into jealousy as mostly likely the motive behind the violent attack. — Dan Toribio Jr.
