7 female trafficking victims rescued in latest operation PDF Print E-mail

Seven female victims of human trafficking  were rescued in latest operations carried out by the Bongao Inter-agency Anti- Human Trafficking Task Force last Tuesday and Friday in the province of  Tawi- Tawi.

The seven women, whose names were withheld, came from different places in the country — One from Zamboanga del Sur, three from Zamboanga City, one each from Bulacan, Laguna and Caloocan.

The woman from Caloocan disclosed that they were recruited by a certain Joy to work in Malaysia as waitresses. Another victim said they do not know that there is an ongoing stand-off between the forces of Sulu Sultanate and Malaysian police and military.

“ Hindi po namin  alam na may awayan dahil walang television at radio po,” said another victim.

After the successful rescue of the seven women, they were sent to Zamboanga City by the BIAAHTTF aboard a commercial vessel. They were fetched in this city by the Philippine Center on Transnational Crime Western Mindanao   Field Office headed by Chief Insp. Alexander Lorenzo together with personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Development-9’s Bahay Silongan.
