Zambo bags first prize in nat’l Qur’an tilt PDF Print E-mail

A female contestant from Zamboanga City bested 15 other contestants from all over the country  and won the first prize in the female category with a score of 96.05% in the prestigious 39th National Qur’an Reading Competition which was held on May 25, 2013 at the University of the Philippines Film Center in Diliman, Quezon City.

Nurjariya I. Pantao, who hails from this city, is a constant winner in the Qur’an competition at the regional level for 3 consecutive years starting 2011, according to Mr, Dennison Abidin, regional director of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos here whose oilice is tasked to sponsor the event every year. Because of sheer hardwork, discipline and determination, Ms. Pantao realized her dream of winning the contest at the national level and will represent the country in the international competition which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia late this year, said Abidin.

The winner of this year’s competition took home cash prize in the amount of P20,000 and other privileges such as free round trip ticket from Zamboanga City to Manila, hotel accommodation in  a first class hotel, and a testimonial dinner in honor of the ie winners and participants to the 39th NQRC hosted by the Hon. Secretary of NCMF Mehol Sadain. Also, the winners in both male and female catergory will be allowed to perform the Hajj in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for free, courtesy of NCMF.
