The San Ramon Power, Inc. (SRPI) conducted medical-dental outreach missions in two barangays in the west coast as part of its social responsibility and community welfare program.

Last May 9, 265 people in Patalon were treated for various ailments, while 101 residents had dental consultations and tooth extractions. Sixty-four boys underwent circumcision.

Two weeks later. A team of private and government doctors and dentists was in La Paz for the same mission. A total of 195 residents underwent medical consultations, forty-six people had tooth extractions and more than 300 boys were circumcised.

These two medical-dental missions were done in coordination with the officials of the twin barangays which were the latest of more than a dozen medical-dental outreach missions undertaken by the power company.

The Alcantara Group is building a coal-fired power plant in San Ramon. Work on the project will commence as soon as the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) approves the power rates jointly proposed by SRPI and the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (Zamcelco).

Meanwhile, the petition is up for a second public hearing by the ERC in Manila on June 6. The first one was done in this city last May 15. — BJ
