A 65-year-old woman and her husband, both residents of Varela St., this city, lost P200,000 to two holduppers in Barangay Miputak, Dipolog City last Monday afternoon.
The victims were identified as Emma Sebastian y Gallenero and her husband Idelfonso Sebastian y Lledo, 70.

Police said the couple together with Atty. Nemecio Gallenero and Andres Gallenero arrived at Land Bank aboard a Pajero SUV driven by Nemesio Apegenero around 1 p.m.

The couple was accompanied by Andres inside the bank where they withdrew P 200,000. They went out of the bank and proceeded to their vehicle and while they were about to ride, two gunmen appeared and announced a holdup at gunpoint. The holduppers grabbed the shoulder bag of Emma. At this point, Aliap Bitoy, a security guard, detailed at the DTI office near the Land Bank tried to respond the incident but was shot by one of the gunmen, who then sped away aboard an XRM Honda motorcycle bringing the P200,000. Bitoy was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police said the shoulder bag taken from the victims contained the P200,000, four manager’s checks amounting to P1.5 million, a cellular phone and several ATM cards.
Recovered at the crime scene were five spent shells of .45 caliber pistol. — Dan Toribio Jr.
