Autonmous Region in Muslim Mindanao Governor-elect Mujiv Hataman has called on local leaders in Basilan to take away all those goats from their offices and bring their employees back to their municipal halls to work and serve the people.

The young but tough ARMM governor-elect, who was dubbed by President Noynoy Aquino as “ghost buster” when he was the ARMM OIC governor because of the many ghost projects and employees he uncovered in the autonomous region, was reacting to various reports that many of the municipal officials in the province have abandoned their municipal halls in their respective towns and have been holding offices in either Isabela or Lamitan City. As a result the municipal edifices have been occupied by goats and other strayed animals.

Hataman made the call during a welcome and thanksgiving celebration party hosted by  three-termer Mayor Roderick H. Furigay held last Thursday in Lamitan City.

Furigay was elected vice mayor, while his wife Rosita won as mayor in the May 13 elections.

Hataman said he will ask for partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines to monitor who among the  local officials in Basilan who not staying in their offices with their employees.

“It’s time for you to hold office in your municipalities and study what development that can be done in your area for the people’s welfare,” Hataman said.

Meanwhile, the ARMM governor-elect called on all local elected leaders as well as all losing candidates to join his leadership because election is already finished.

He asked from the local officials  to share  their experience on effective leadership and good governance because it is  time to move forward.

ARMM Vice Governor-elect Harun Al-Rashid Alonto also called on the local officials to change their attitude, followgood governance and lead the people to sincere leadership because ARMM is now left behind by other regions in the country.

Mayor Furigay told newsmen that there are about six mayors holding office with their employees in Lamitan City.

On the other hand, Hataman announced that under his leadership, ARMM has achieved P 800 milion in savings for the Department of Education. Most of the projects that he will put up will be a water system for every school in ARMM for the use of schoolers.

He assured the people in Basilan that after his term in ARMM, the province’s circumferential road will be completed. — Allen Abastillas
