Police are conducting a thorough investigation to unmask the man behind the grenade attack that injured a barangay official in Pagadian City Tuesday.

Injured in the grenade attack was Judith Adal, 48, barangay chairperson of Dumagoc, Pagadian City, according to Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) spokesman Chief Insp. Ariel Huesca.

Huesca said Adal and her family were sleeping when a man arrived and tossed an MK2 grenade on their residence.

Adal was injured and was rushed to the Jamillarin Hospital, Huesca said.

No one among the Adal family members as well as their neighbors saw the grenade thrower who was no longer around when they were awakened by the explosion, police said.

Recovered from the crime scene were the grenade’s safety lever, fuse, spring and several shrapnel.
