The Department of Energy (DOE) is presently updating the list of embedded generators in the country to be able to come up with a more comprehensive demand and supply analysis and forecasts.

This was learned yesterday from Zamcelco General Manager Reinerio R. Ramos who was in receipt of the DOE communication to this effect.

According to Ramos, the DOE is undertaking efforts to ensure adequacy of generating capacities to meet the country’s power supply requirement in view of frequent downtime of major generating power plants.

In this regard, the DOE taps the ‘assistance of Zamcelco in helping come up with an inventory of all embedded generators including their capacities in its franchise area.

“We would like to advise owners of generators of any capacity/rating, to kindly come to our office for assistance in filing the Certificate of Compliance (CoC) with the DOE as soon as possible,” Ramos said.
“Those entities who already have received their CoCs from the DOE may disregard his requirement unless they have additional units to apply for or have upgraded their existing units,” Ramos added.
It was also learned that there are corresponding penalties imposed by the DOE for non-compliance to this government mandate under the EPIRA Law.
