The City Health Office has served a preventive closure order on a restaurant along Cesar Climaco Avenue due to flagrant violation of the sanitary law.

City Health Officer Rodel Agbulos said the subject restaurant’s violation is deemed serious to order the closure until the violations are remedied.

“The violation is mainly on the unsanitary condition in the kitchen and so the restaurant was on preventive closure from Saturday and Sunday,” Agbulos disclosed.

He said complaints regarding the pest infestation in the food have also been received.

“The said restaurant has been repeatedly closed for violations. We are giving the restaurant operator and owner the final warning,” the City Health Officer warned.

As the health keeper of the City, the CHO regularly deploys sanitary inspectors to the different restaurants and eateries to check on compliance of existing laws and   regulations.

Several other restaurants and eateries and other establishments engaged in the food business have met the same penalty due to violations of the sanitary law. The closure order is being lifted once laws are complied.

Agbulos warned other erring establishments of similar sanctions once the violations are confirmed and verified.

The health official said food handlers and all establishments engaged in the food-related business should strictly comply with sanitation laws. “The health of the people should be our primordial interest”. — Sheila Covarrubias
