Men of the Highway Patrol Group-9 (HPG-9) from the different provincial teams have undergone drug testing at the Police Regional  Office-9 Crime Laboratory in Camp Batalla.

Chief Insp. Alejandro O. Espiritu III,  HPG-9 deputy chief, disclosed that the drug testing of HPG-9 personnel is part of the Philippine National Police policy that mandates all personnel nationwide to be clean from prohibited drugs. The testing is done annually to see to it that police personnel have not engaged in or have taken illegal drugs.

Espiritu personnally led the HPG-9 operatives during the drug test.

“We don’t want are operatives to take drugs because it is bad in their duties and mission in serving the people and the country.  Besides HPG 9 does not have enough personnel . Assignment of personnel is being maximized. We are committed to serve the people with clean troopers and free from illegal drugs. We will not allow are men to involve illegal drugs,” said Espiritu in an interview.

Espiritu said that Supt. Severino B. Agustin, HPG-9 chief, was not able to join the first examination because he attended  the exit briefing of the Regional Joint Security Coordinating  Center Conference that was presided by the Commission on Elections in Dipolog City last Tuesday.
