Mayor Celso Lobregat, together with District I Representative Beng Climaco and other stakeholders, led the inauguration of the Big Fish Foods Corporation, June 11 in Barangay Recodo.

The inauguration marked the formal start of operations for Big Fish Foods Corporation, one of the newest fishing and canning facilities in Zamboanga City.

“Our presence here today signifies the positive state of our fishing and canning industry in the City,” declared Lobregat, noting that nature and the interventions of the City Government and its partners paved the way for Zamboanga City to thrive as the Sardines Capital of the Philippines.

Lobregat further noted that the City has gained a surge in local economic activities, thanks to the careful planning and the prudent management of the local government. “If you did not have confidence in the local government, I am sure you will not have invested here,” added Lobregat.

Anita Kaw, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Big Fish Foods Corporation, thanked the corporation’s partners and major stakeholders, including the City Government, for their support. According to Kaw, their company will definitely be “a contributor to the economy of Zamboanga.”

Present during the inauguration were local businessmen and suppliers, government offices and agencies, the corporation’s Board of Directors, major stockholders and guests from Manila and Cebu. — Jasmine Mohammad
