An agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) was shot and killed by lawmen during a police operation at Saavedra St., Sta. Maria yesterday morning.

Joel Sacro, 38, married, sustained a bullet wound in the body and died on the spot.

A police report disclosed that Sacro was the subject of a complaint for firing his gun indiscriminately in the vicinity of his house at Saavedra St. at dawn yesterday.

However, Sacro was nowhere to be found when policemen arrived in the area. They returned to Sacro’s residence hours later to invite him to the Sta. Maria Police Station but a commotion broke out which ended in the fatal shooting.

It was learned that when he was about to be arrested by policemen, Sacro resisted and a burst of gunfire was heard.  Sacro was later found with a bullet wound in the body inside his house.

Men of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) lifted some evidences in the crime scene before the body was brought to a funeral parlor for post mortem examination.
