House Deputy Speaker and Mayor-elect Beng Climaco the other day served as course speaker for a legislator course designed by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) for Congresswoman-elect Leni Robredo of Camarines Sur.

Cong. Climaco was selected by the DAP to share her experiences as a legislator given her track record starting from an elected councilor to vice mayor and later representative of the City’s First District in the House of Representatives where she was designated House Deputy Speaker for Mindanao.

Atty. Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo, wife of the late Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, underwent a coaching program to prep her up as she takes on a new job come July 1st — as the elected Representative of the 3rd District of Camsur.

As a neophyte, Mrs. Robredo wants to make sure that she is ready for the new job—equipped, ready and aware of the services to the people.

Meanwhile, Climaco and her team will also undergo a course in understanding the operations of the local government unit (LGU) to equip everyone in serving the people.

“Our people deserve the best service so we owe them that we get into our role with the necessary know-how,” the mayor-elect emphasized.

Like all the elected city officials, Climaco will assume her post as mayor effective noon of June 30, the day set for the oath taking ceremonies of all officials in the city.

This week, Climaco and her team will also sit down with the Transition team created by outgoing Mayor Celso Lobregat to ensure the smooth transfer of leadership.  — Alexandra Blanca
