The Philippine Air Force Reserve Command based at the Edwin Andrews Air Base (EAAB) yesterday laid out a grand welcome program for Mayor Celso Lobregat as a show of gratitude to the mayor and his administration for the continuous support and assistance to the military force.

The event marked the turnover of the P1.36M rest/utility rooms and the groundbreaking for the P2.7M multi-purpose building at the EAAB for use of the 6th Air Reserve Center. It was also graced by 3rd Air Division Commander MGen. Nicanor Vivar, Councilor Rudy Lim, Salug Mayor Jeffrey Lim, Sta. Maria Chairman Justo Lacandalo and other officials.

The two projects are only some of the infrastructure projects implemented by the City Government under the Lobregat administration from 2007-2013 that are estimated to reach over P10 million.

Air Force Reserve Command Chief, BGen. William Turalde hailed the Lobregat administration for allocating time, talent and treasures, or what he termed as 3T’s for the benefit not only of the reservists but to the entire Air Force personnel in Mindanao. He likewise said that the City Government has exemplified full support, sincerity and sacrifice in the implementation of the different projects.

“This facility increases spirit and morale of our people that includes not only the reservists but the Air Force personnel in general”, BGen. Turalde said adding “this project helps in the improvement of our facilities and the best ARCEN (Air Reserve Center) is the 6th ARCEN because the reserve force is very supportive”.

For his part, LTC Emmanuel Mahipus, OIC, 6th Air Force Wing Reserve expressed special thanks to Lobregat for the exemplary support given to the Reserve Center and the PAF based at the EAAB.

“As OIC Wing Commander for several years now, I have witnessed how he exemplified leadership in the reserve force”, Mahipus said referring to Lobregat, who is the commander of the 61st Air Force Reserve Group in the city.

Mahipus said Lobregat’s leadership has encouraged numerous officials and well-meaning individuals to follow as members of the reserve force. “Many have followed foot, many of them are now with us and many are still coming”.

Meanwhile, most significant infrastructure projects implemented inside the EAAB are the P1.38M multi-purpose gazebo, P1.2M improvement of 2-storey 6 classroom building at EAAB Elementary School and 3 concreting of roads, construction of 2 drainage systems and 1 open canal, and rehabilitation of comfort rooms amounting to P4.45M among others.

On the other hand, the soon to be constructed multi-purpose building in the amount of P2.7M will be taken from the CDF of Councilor Lim in the amount of P1M while the rest will be taken from other sources.
