Group eyes cassava processing plant in ZC PDF Print E-mail

A group of investors is planning  to put-up a cassava processing plant in Barangay Lubigan, according to Councilor and now Congresswoman-elect Lilia Macrohon- Nuño.

Nuño said she will not yet name the group of investors as requested by the latter.

She said the group seeks to make Zamboanga City the cassava capital of Mindanao.

The investment plan is seen to benefit local cassava farmers because it will increase their income and livelihood. It will also generating income for the city.

Meanwhile, Adamson University officials held a gift-giving activity last Sunday in Barangay Panubigan and Taluksangay as part of the celebration of Councilor Nuño’s birthday.

According to Nuño, Adamson University chose Panubigan and Taluksangay because they are some of the most depressed and poorest barangays in the city. About 500 children received food commodities and school supplies given by Nuño during the gift-giving occasion.

Nuño said that Adamson University wants to put up a potable water system in Panubigan in addition to donating computers to the school in the area. — Allen Abastillas
