Former Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) Board Director Carmen Narciso Araneta passed away last June 14, 2013 in Manila. She was 91 years old.

Director Mame, as she was fondly called, was appointed as member of the ZCWD Board of Directors, representing the Women sector, in 1987 up to 1992 and was reappointed again in 1993 to 1998, 1999 to 2004 and 2005 to 2008. In mid year of 2008, she opted to retire from service and relocated to Manila until her demise last Monday. During her appointment as Director in 1987, she was responsible for the beautification and cleanliness of the ZCWD facilities particularly the Water Treatment Plant and the production wells.  She was also Director In-charge of personnel in 1987. During her stay with the water district, she became the Board Secretary and later as Vice Chair. She was also an awardee of 10 years, 15 years and 20 years in Service given by the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA).  She served the water district for 21 years.

Her remains will be brought to the ZCWD Coco Pavilion, at the Old Reservoir in Pasonanca on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. A 9:00 AM mass followed by a 10:00AM necrological service, will also be held on Thursday at the ZCWD Coco Pavilion. This will be attended by Zamboanga City Water District family and representatives of the various women’s organizations in the city.

Her ashes will be placed, together with the remains of her husband Teodoro Araneta, in a crypt at the Tetuan Church after the 10:00AM mass on June 21, 2013 (Friday).
