A barangay chairman of Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte and a 10-year-old boy were killed in a gun attack at  Sitio Comate, Limpapa, this city last Wednesday night.

The child’s elder brother was wounded in the same incident.

Labuan Police Station chief Sr. Insp. Chester Natividad identified the fatalities as Allimudin Quillah, barangay chairman of Cusipan, Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte and Jay Ann Ismael, 10, a resident of Sitio Comate, Limpapa. Wounded was Ismael’s brother Tottoh Ismael, married.

Natividad disclosed that Quillah arrived at Sitio Comate from Sibuco and was talking to Tottoh, when a gunman wearing bonnet and armed with an M16 rifle appeared and sprayed them with automatic gunfire.

Jay Ann who was with his father was fatally hit by the bullets.

Natividad said that Quillah sustained bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot, while Jay Ann was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Tottoh was confined at the Zamboanga City Medical Center.

Natividad said the gunman escaped aboard a pumpboat that sped towards unknown direction.

Police suspect that it was Quillah who was the target of the gunman while the father and son were hit by stray bullets during the gun attack.

Natividad said they were coordinating with the police in Sibuco to check the personal background of Quillah in order to unmask the killer. – Dan Toribio Jr.
