Boat capsizes: 1 dead, 5 rescued PDF Print E-mail

A fisherman perished in sea, while his five companions, four of whom minors,  were rescued after their boat capsized off Limpapa Friday night.

City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo identified the fatality as Efren Macaso. Rescued were Ismael Asmud, 53; Nikieoy Ingalan, 13; Beejay Ingalan, 14; Aries Jay Rodero, 11 and Arjie Hampac, 13, all residents of Limpapa.

A police report disclosed that Macaso and his five companions went fishing at high seas off Limpapa around 7:30 p.m.  When they were in the middle of the sea,  they encountered big waves brought about by strong winds. The group were forced to paddle to shore but as they were nearing the beach, their boat capsized after it was battered by waves.

Other fishermen immediately carried out search and rescue operation, but Macaso was later discovered dead and his body was retrieved near Sitio Cumati, Limpapa.

Police said that Macaso has injuries in the head and body. His companions were rescued and went home safe.
