The famed Ateneo Concert Band goes on stage February 12 at the Garden Orchid Hotel Convention hall for a pre-valentines day dinner-concert to raise funds for scholars in the city’s premier university.

Dubbed, ‘Amor’, the concert is being mounted by the Ateneo de Zamboanga University in cooperation with EBAF Productions, showcasing the concert band under the baton of maestro Polly Enriquez.

The concert will feature a wide repertoire of music from classical, immortal love songs and ballroom music carefully selected and prepared by Enriquez himself.

ADZU President Fr. Antonio Moreno , SJ disclosed that proceeds of the dinner concert will go to the ADZU Centennial Scholarship fund, which aims to put deserving but financially handicapped students through college at the Ateneo.

Ateneo de Zamboanga incidentally celebrates its centennial next year 2012.
Aside from the dinner concert, guests will be treated to ballroom dancing and lucky ticket holders get to win attractive raffle prizes put up by the organizers.

EBAF President and general manager Rep. Erbie Fabian of Distirt 2 said the concert will afford local folk a chance to watch and listen to the ADZU concert band in a formal setting after its series of successful concerts in other parts of the country.

Fabian, an alumnus of the Ateneo said this was also an opportunity to help the school through raising funds for its Centennial scholarship fund.

Selling like hot cakes since its promotional launch, limited number of tickets are still available at the ADZU President’s Project office. Contact Ms Cristine Velasquez-Calunod or Jason Llenado at the Office of Student Services of the ateneo.

‘Amor’, a one night only dinner concert, goes on stage at 7pm. Come and watch it.
