The parent-teacher community of Baliwasan Central School has expressed profound gratitude to the City Government under the leadership of Mayor Celso Lobregat for the newly-constructed and beautifully designed school building turned over to them yesterday.

Costing P6 million, the 2-storey 6 classroom building is one of the numerous school buildings unveiled and turned over by Lobregat the past few days bringing to a total of 115 new classrooms completed and turned over from January to June 27 alone.

Mayor Lobregat led City Government officials in turning over the school building to the Division of City Schools represented by Julieto Fernandez and the Baliwasan Central School administration. He was assisted by Councilors Rudy Lim, Nonong Guingona and Noning Biel.

Dr. Teresita Sagrado, Baliwasan Central School principal said the new school building will help improve student classroom ratio and ultimately lead to quality education. She vowed to properly take care of the building and to ensure that the young students will benefit from it.

“Proteje con este school building,” advised Lobregat to the teachers and students who attended the turnover rites. “Usa y cuida embunamente con este edificio.”

School officials and members of the Baliwasan barangay council gratefully accepted the completed project. Fernandez lauded the local administration’s commitment to education.

He also cited Lobregat’s judicious management of the City resources as an example for all teachers, who are educators and financial managers themselves. “Thank you for showing to us what a good financial manager is,” said Fernandez.

Under the Lobregat administration, the City Government invested approximately Php 1.3 billion towards education – all without having to borrow a single centavo.

For his part, Mayor Lobregat remains committed to his responsibilities as mayor, and intends to spend a substantial amount of time during the final three days of his administration turning over completed projects.

“Maskin ora ya lang el ya keda na deaton administration, ase quita syempre deaton trabaho,” said Lobregat as he thanked everyone for their support and confidence.

Also present during the turnover yesterday were Principal-in-Charge for Baliwasan District Ernesto Sario, Baliwasan Central School Principal Dr. Teresita Sagrado and Education Supervisor Victorino Miguel and members of the Baliwasan barangay council. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
