Beng seeks help for Jolo flood victims PDF Print E-mail

House Deputy Speaker for Mindanao Beng Climaco-Salazar has expressed concern to victims of the severe flooding in Jolo, as she appealed to Zamboangueños and concerned individuals to show solidarity to relief operations by making donations and other forms of assistance.

“I appeal to all Zamboangueños to help donate relief goods for the victims in Jolo,” the District 1 Representative said.

Among the needed supplies in the area she said are medicines, food such as rice and canned sardines and light building materials to help build up houses that were wrecked by the devastating flashflood.

At least five people reportedly perished and thousands more affected and left homeless by the severe flooding in Jolo, Sulu recently prompting authorities to declare the area under a state of calamity.

“Our thoughts go to the victims and their families,” Climaco said as she urged people to “join efforts together in the relief operations badly needed by the people in Jolo and let us continue to pray for their safety especially those who are still affected by the flashflood”.

Climaco is also collaborating with other Mindanao legislators to consolidate relief efforts and facilitate the flow of donations to the affected area.

She is also closely coordinating with Social Welfare Secretary Dinky Soliman in a bid to to intensify the department’s relief operations in the area.  

All donations can be channeled through the Office of Congresswoman Climaco in Sta. Maria or through the Quick Response Team of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University in La Purisima Street. — Christian Olasiman
